Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ichi.day ("the Service"), a timeboxing application. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

ichi is a local-first timeboxing application that helps you plan and manage your daily tasks. The Service is provided as a web application (PWA) and a desktop application (macOS). Core functionality works entirely on your device without requiring an account.

2. Account and Cloud Sync

Creating an account is optional. If you choose to create an account for cloud sync:

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your recovery phrase. If you lose your recovery phrase, your encrypted data cannot be recovered.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service's infrastructure
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service
• Use automated systems to access the Service in a manner that exceeds reasonable use

4. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and content, is owned by ichi.day. You retain full ownership of any data you create within the application.

5. Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data. Key points:

• Your data is stored locally on your device by default.
• Cloud sync data is end-to-end encrypted (AES-256).
• You can export or delete your data at any time.

6. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
• We are not liable for any loss of data, particularly local data that may be lost due to browser data clearing or device issues.
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the Service (if any).

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. If you have an account, you can delete it along with all server-side data through the app settings. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you violate these Terms.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan.
